Under the careful and passionate guidance of Beckie and her coaching team the Sedbergh Hockey Course has grown bigger than we ever could have imagined. Children are engaged, challenged, and cared for in a manner that truly inspires them to have an experience which leaves them always wanting more and moving their game to the next level.
The children now have a new double astroturf hockey pitch to call home for their course experience, which allows each coach under Beckie’s leadership to use their skill set and character to positively impact positively on every single boy and girl in attendance. Tuesday Night Lights is an exciting addition to the programme that we are all looking forward to.
As with last summer the days on the course will be themed throughout the week to give some extra influence and buy in from all participants. It also allows the players to relate and connect more smoothly to their skills and the game. Some examples of the themes are below.
Beckie Middleton
During her 11 year career Beckie gained over 100 caps for England and Great Britain and was both a Commonwealth and European medalist. She made her England debut in 2003 aged just 17, and went on to win Commonwealth Games bronze in 2006, as well as becoming a three-time European medalist. As a coach Beckie was part of the England Hockey Advanced Coach Programme and has coached at the England Hockey Performance Centre in Weybridge. She is very passionate about coach education, delivering outstanding training sessions and works with many Schools and clubs to promote hockey.
‘Train Like a Champion’ – Technical & gameplay stations focused on various aspects of securing possession and moving the ball.
‘Goal Machines’ - Creative goal scoring
‘Brains win games’ - Tactical development and whole team strategy
‘The Dutch Touch’ - A taste of the training and playing style in the Netherlands
‘Defensive Warrior’ - 1v1, clean wins, intercepts, defending and attacking the baseline.
