Casterton Sedbergh Prep school is now an active Pony Club Centre and during the course children can work towards badge achievements and efficiency tests, making the learning fun and rewarding. Once camp is over, Pony Club members can attend any centre in the country and continue their Pony Club journey.
During camp week we will have demonstrations by a selection of equine professionals, giving the children experiences they may never have had before. The dentist, farrier, vet and physio can offer an insight into how we care for our ponies beyond their day to day routine.
We aim to offer a variety of experiences, tailored to individual ability, which will help Children to develop their independence in and out of the saddle. Dressage, show jumping, cross country, mounted games, and lunging are all on offer whether at the beginning of the learning curve or as an accomplished competitive rider.
We have a number of safe but fun ponies to suit riders of all abilities however we can accommodate riders that would like to bring their own pony. Please contact sah@sedberghprep.org for further information.
Please note as a minimum requirement children need to be able to walk and trot confidently off the lead rein.
The experience doesn’t stop there. With a comprehensive evening programme to further enhance our core values we have introduced a residential option for 8-11 year olds on courses based at Sedbergh Preparatory School. This unique opportunity allows children to taste the full boarding experience.
The Pony Club
While not essential, we recommend children attending camp take membership with The Pony Club for riders to experience the full benefits that being a member brings.
