FOR AGES 10-15

The reputation and demand for the Sedbergh Cricket Course has grown so much that we have now had to include an additional summer date. Martin Speight, Sedbergh School’s Director of Cricket is regarded as one of the most well-respected and inspirational coaches in school boy cricket and delivers an action-packed residential cricket course.

Each player is individually supported and encouraged to drive their game forward to the very best of their ability. Players will receive detailed feedback throughout the course and will take away a personal development programme direct from Martin.

Martin provides quality, hands-on coaching and combines his experience and knowledge of the game with video analysis to develop and fine tune the techniques of cricketers of varying ages and abilities. In addition, available to all course participants will be specialist coaching for bowlers, batsmen, wicket-keepers, fielding and a relevant taste of why strength and conditioning in cricket is so important.

As a player Martin scored a very impressive 9,000 first class runs, 5,000 one day runs and effected nearly 300 dismissals whilst representing Sussex CCC and Durham CCC. Today Martin is an extremely passionate ECB level 3 qualified coach and coach tutor consistently inspiring the next generation of young male and female cricketers.

Under the tutorship of Martin, Sedbergh School cricket has grown from strength to strength making 11 appearances in national finals and is continuing to produces county and international players representing Scotland Ladies, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria. The latest protégé of a long list is Harry Brooke who by captaining England under 19s, making his first class debut for Yorkshire v Pakistan A whilst still studying at Sedbergh School. Currently a regular for Yorkshire CCC he will no doubt go on to have a hugely fantastic career.

Harry Brook – Old Sedberghian, Yorkshire CCC & England U19s Captain

“Congratulations on winning the T20 national finals. Just thought I’d say thank you for all the hours you’ve put in with me over the years and got me to where I am today, which has made me England U19s captain! Thank you again Martin I am extremely grateful you have been awesome.”

“I was so impressed with the Sedbergh courses, just the right amount of participants, not too daunting but really fun and beneficial with fantastic pastoral care. I’ve told all my friends about how great it was, and my Son is keen to come back.”

“The boys had a fantastic time on the cricket course, and have both learnt lots. Local club and school matches have now started and both boys are enjoying putting some of what they have learnt into practice.”
