Returning for a second year to lead the Rugby courses is World Cup Winner, Neil Back. Building on last year’s course, Neil will deliver a new and exciting programme. This will be based on developing thinking, skilful and creative players through a combination of skills, games and tactical understanding. Neil will lead an experienced team of coaches, most returning to Sedbergh from previous years.
Alongside the development of core skills, Neil’s programme will seek to develop independent, self organising players with focus and determination.
Neil Back had an amazing playing career, winning 66 caps and culminating in World Cup triumph in 2003. In addition, he went on three British and Irish Lions tours. He played 339 times for Leicester Tigers, winning two European Cups and three Premiership titles, and scoring a record 125 tries. He went on to coach both Leicester and Leeds in the Premiership. Neil was awarded the MBE for services to Rugby in 2004
“My life in Rugby enabled me to achieve many things, to make the best of myself and cement friendships for life. I want to help young players get the same out of the game as I did. I am delighted to be returning to lead the Sedbergh programme in 2018. I am looking forward to working with an amazing team of experienced coaches to deliver a programme of coaching and development that I believe is without equal.”
Scotland – 60 Caps – Played in Two World Cups
Scotland Under 20s
We are absolutely delighted to welcome one of the games most decorated players and coaches of this generation, Bryan Redpath to lead the Elite 16s summer rugby programme. The Elite 16s programme is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for all players to engage with a form of training they may not yet have necessarily experienced and prepare them for 6th form rugby and beyond. As well as on field training, players will be able to seek advice regarding sport psychology, nutrition, analysis, goal setting and the hidden extras that are required in the journey of becoming the best possible version of themselves.
This really is a unique opportunity for any young aspiring rugby player to develop their all round game at a pivotal stage in their personal development. Bryan Redpath has recently been appointed Head Coach of Scotland under 20s and we believe there is no better person to inspire and develop your ambitious under 16 rugby players.
