Crista’s Hockey career is a remarkable story. She describes herself as “not a natural Hockey player”, but her life story is one of extraordinary success, exceptional hard work and a reputation as one of the greatest players in the world game. She is the ultimate role model for aspiring players.
Crista returns for her second year as Lead Coach. Her course is a unique combination of memorable coaching, fun, friendship and team work. Crista is fully involved with every child every day and the programme is a reflection of her own remarkable personality, and life story.
Crista won an Olympic Gold Medal in the Rio Games, scoring her 58th international goal in the final. She had retired after winning Bronze at the London 2012 Games, and was tempted back into the squad only a year before Rio. She became a pivotal player in the gold medal team, with a crucial role as tenacious defender and world class drag-flicker at short corners. She won a total of 185 international caps, which led her to be twice selected in the Hockey Federation’s World All Stars team. Crista was awarded the MBE for services to Hockey in 2016
“Sedbergh 2017 was a great experience for me, which is why I am returning for the summer of 2018. I loved the enthusiasm and commitment of the children, and the amazing progress they made- as players and people – during the week. I am passionate about giving something back to the game and hope the next generation of players can love it as much as I do”
“I just wanted to say how much my daughter enjoyed the course, once again this year, it was both professional and fun! Christa Cullen had so much patience with them all, signing sticks and getting photos, it really meant a lot to the children.”
