This will be Dean’s fourth year with us at Sedbergh, and we look forward to the incredible passion and enthusiasm he always brings with him, which we see clearly mirrored in the young athletes he works so closely with while he is here.
Athletics training is fundamental in improving performance across all sports, developing core strength, balance and co-ordination and improving running, jumping and throwing skills. Setting the foundations from a young age is so important, whether it’s technical, physical or psychological. It all goes towards helping athletes become the best they can be, in whatever sport they may choose to specialise in!
Dean Macey is best known as a leading Great British decathlete. His first major triumph was a silver medal at the 1999 World Championships, which helped win him the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award. He went on to win Gold in the Commonwealth Games decathlon, two World Championship medals, came fourth in two Olympic Games, and has a personal best of 8603 points.
“Over the four days at Sedbergh, we not only help improve performance, but we will help build the single most important attribute any athlete needs…Confidence!”
“I want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in the Athletics course, which my son attended this week. He sounds to have had an amazing time and has not stopped talking about it since he got home. The outstanding coaching goes without saying, but he also enjoyed the whole experience.”
