A warm welcome to the Easter and Summer courses. Annually we welcome over one thousand children to take part in our excellent fully residential sports and outreach programmes based here at Sedbergh School and Sedbergh Prep School. This is a unique opportunity for young children of all abilities to work with the country’s very best sports coaches based in a fabulous and safe environment which encourages children to explore the endless possibilities sport has to offer.
Unlike many other residential courses we offer a full day of activity through to 8pm, and the coaches, plus additional pastoral staff, stay in the Boarding Houses with the children, creating the “home from home” feeling that is so important, especially for those staying away for the first time.

Sports coaching is a fast changing landscape. The most modern science is clear on how children best learn skills and attitudes, and on the value of inspiring role models. Sedbergh courses aim to create the most fertile climate for the development of young players, as people and performers. World renowned coaches share their message, and their personal experience: the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. And the key is to learn to enjoy the journey and share it with friends old and new.
Leading coaching is not just for children. Thursday seminars enable parents to better understand the impact of coaching, and adult behaviours, on youth sport. Learn to support your young athlete to be the best that they can be.
The unique strength of Sedbergh Courses are the coaches. The Head Coaches are amazing people who have worked their way to extraordinary success. They readily share these experiences, throughout the day and through evening discussions and q+a. Their example is infectious, and their coaching enlightening and inspiring
The assistant coaches are all leading performers themselves. Most have international honours at various levels and have or are playing at the highest level of domestic sport in the UK. They not only share their technical expertise during the day, but are also in the houses in the evening to guide young athletes as they capture their day’s learning in their Development Log.
The magnificent location of Sedbergh means pupils can enjoy school life in a safe, healthy and
dynamic environment. The opportunities for outdoor activities are almost unlimited –
from a walk in the hills to mountain biking, or the calm of fishing to the challenge of kayaking.
While academic study is central for every pupil the experiences of a Sedberghian are never
confined only to the classroom.
